Proofreading or Copy Editing --

What's the Difference?

Copy editors mark up revisions on a typewritten manuscript (typically

MS Word) revising the document to be consistent with the conventions of good writing. He/she ensures smooth syntax, correct grammar, punctuation and spelling.

Proofreaders check a reproduction (typically a PDF) that is a facsimile of
the finished product, checking for errors that might have been introduced during that stage, as well as font and style consistency.

Typing and word processing services also available! Call or e-mail for pricing. Whatever the need, Shiffrin Editorial is here for you.

And, by the way, don't assume that you can get by with spell check and grammar check on your computers. They often exacerbate the problem by inserting incorrect words and misinterpreting the intended meaning. Computers will never replace humans!
